Working Meetings on Identification and Provision of Free Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons in the Regions Kyzylorda and Zhambyl

On 27 September and 29 September 2017, working meetings on identification and provision of free legal assistance to stateless persons were held with representatives of state and law enforcement agencies of the regions Kyzylorda and Zhambyl. The representatives of the Depatrtmant of Education, Department of Health, Department of Justice and migration services of the two regions took an active part.

Objective of the working meetings-informing about the ongoing project to provide free legal assistance to stateless persons in three areas of South Kazakhstan in partnership with UNHCR, as well as establishing cooperation with representatives of state and law enforcement agencies.

Particular attention was paid to underage children who never received a birth certificate and whose citizenship is unknown. In addition, the participants received information on international aspects of stateless persons and learned about intermediate results of the implemented project in three regions of Southern Kazakhstan. The meetings were held within the framework of the ongoing project of the NGO "Sana Sezim" in partnership with UNHCR.
