On 7 September 2017, the meeting with representatives of the UO SKO to identify stateless persons in the South Kazakhstan region was held in Shymkent.

The purpose of the meeting was to increase the awareness of the participants about the provision of free legal aid to stateless persons, as well as further cooperation with teachers of secondary education institutions to identify stateless persons. Particular attention was paid to underage children who never received a birth certificate and whose citizenship is unknown.

The Participants received information on international aspects of stateless persons and intermediate results of the implemented project in three oblasts of Kazakhstan (Kyzylorda, Zhambyl and South Kazakhstan). The meeting was held within the framework of the ongoing project of the NGO "Sana Sezim" in partnership with UNHCR.
