International Campaign: “16 Days without Violence!”

The "Legal Center for Women's Initiatives “Sana Sezim” in conjunction with the Commission for Women and Family and Demographic Policy under the Akim of the South Kazakhstan Oblast, the Department for the Protection of Women from Violence of the Department of Internal Affairs of South Kazakhstan Republic from November 25, 2016 to December 10, 2016, conducts the International Campaign “16 Days without Violence".
The annual campaign runs from November 25 to December 10. During its holding, special attention is paid to the following significant days:
November 25 - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It is on this day that the campaign "16 Days of Active Action against Violence against Women" begins. The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was officially proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1999.
December 1 - World AIDS Day. The virus of immunodeficiency and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is threateningly spreading around the world. Women are more prone to infection and become infected faster than men.
December 10 - International Human Rights Day. On December 10, 1948, the governments of the UN member states recognized human rights "for life, liberty and inviolability of the person for all without exception" by signing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
These dates highlight the symbolic link between violence against women and the violation of human rights.
In addition, this international campaign is also carried out within the framework of Lot Nr. 8 "Organization of Events on Victims of Domestic Violence and Trafficking in Persons" commissioned by the Department of Internal Policy and Religious Affairs of the South Kazakhstan Oblast.
The campaign will include:
- Information and educational activities on violence against women and children through the distribution of booklets and information posters in higher education institutions, CSPs and among the population in conjunction with the Commission for Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Akim of the South Kazakhstan Oblast;
- Daily provision of qualified and free legal, psychological and social assistance to victims of domestic violence through individual consultations inthe office.
- Hot line.
- Conducting trainings for young people "Prevention of Domestic Violence and Trafficking of Human Beings as Violations of Human Rights"
