On 8 July 2016, the round table “Interim results on the Identification and Provision of Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons in SKO” was held in Shymkent. This round table was carried out within the framework of the project “Providing Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons”, financed by UNHCR.

At the round table, statelessness in the Republic of Kazakhstan was examined according to results of the campaign for identification of stateless persons and problematic issues of documentation. Possible solutions were developed, and also issues related to cooperation with state and law enforcement agencies of the South Kazakhstan Oblast on providing legal assistance to stateless persons were discussed.

The round table was attended by representatives of state and law enforcement agencies of the South Kazakhstan Oblast, as well as representatives of UNHCR.
