Within the framework of the project “Providing Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons” that is financially supported by UNHCR, field meetings were held with representatives of state and law enforcement agencies of the 4 districts of the South Kazakhstan region (Sayram, Tyulkubassky, Kazygurstky, Saryagashsky).

The goals of the field meetings were to raise awareness on stateless persons, inform local authorities about the need to improve administrative practices of treating stateless persons and to identify and provide legal assistance to stateless persons. Representatives of the department for internal policy of the districts, education and health, law enforcement agencies and migration services took an active part in the meetings. As a result of the meetings, cooperation was established to identify and provide assistance to stateless persons. It is planned to hold similar meetings in all areas of the South Kazakhstan region with the assistance of the Commission for Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Akim of the South Kazakhstan Oblast, the South Caucasus Department of Internal Affairs.
