“Migrants Rights are Human Rights” under financial support of the Open Society Foundation Institute (FOSI)

Geography Project:South Kazakhstan Region, Shymkent.
Project goal: To improve labor migration management system and protection of the rights of migrant workers in South Kazakhstan region, by lobbying legislative and institutional changes, and the development of partnerships with international NGOs.
Project activities:
- To lobby about changes and making recommendations on immigration legislation in the dialogue platforms, of which the NGO “Sana Sezim” is a member (Commission on Human Rights under the President, Inter-Agency for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the MIA of RK, the working group for drafting the law on the provision of special social services for victims of trafficking under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan)
- To establish effective cooperation with NGO EAEU for the protection of rights and legal interests of migrant workers
- The signing of a memorandum on mutual cooperation in the field of migration with the Office of the State Labour Inspectorate of Shymkent.
- To provide free juridical help for the 1000 Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
- To conduct 12 information campaigns and 12 mobile consultations among migrant workers and their families through the distribution of 6,000 brochures “Guide migrant worker” and 12,000 pocket booklets “To the migrants about their rights!”.
