“Protection of rights and legal interests of female labor migrants as potential human traffic victims” under the financial support of Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany

Project Timeline: April 2015 – December 2015.

Geography project: South Kazakhstan Region, Shymkent.

Objective: prevention of human traffic by providing legal assistance and attraction of social attention on the protection of female labor migrants as potential human traffic victims.

Target group: female labor migrants and their families as potential human traffic victims, and law-enforcement officials.

Expected Results:

  • Society, in general, and potential human traffic victims, in particular, will be informed in the issues related with human traffic, existing legal and organizational practices of combating with it, owing to telephone hotline and booklets distribution which will promote to reduction of slave trade and allow to adopt all safety measures to those seeking job both abroad, and within Kazakhstan.
  • A more active and efficient institutional base will be created to resolve the problems related with human traffic owing to 75 trained local and regional law-enforcement representatives. International legislation and UN documentation concerning human rights for protection from slavery will be applied more efficiently owing to educational trainings.
  • More than 750 people will receive legal assistance.
  • More than 350 people will receive social assistance which will include accompaniment to state organizations to resolve issues related with access to education and health care for female labor migrants and their families.
  • Over 1000 people will receive consultation on telephone hotline.
  • Coverage of the problem in mass media will inform population in South Kazakhstan Oblast.
