Judicial protection of rights of victims of human trafficking
On May 29-30, 2012 the training on theme “Human trafficking: judicial protection of victim’s rights” was conducted at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan, organized by the Institute of Justice of Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan with the support of Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, U.S .A Embassy and the OSCE Center in Astana
International experts, judges of the Supreme Court, the students of extension courses of the Institute of Justice (chairmen of district and similar to them courts), NGO representatives, faculty members, researchers and master’s students of the Institute of Justice participated in this training.
The trainers were international and national experts: Judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Turkey Sami Cézanne Ural, the Judge of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan Tolebay Kozhan, retired Judge of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan Raisa Yurchenko, and representative of NGOs Khadicha Abysheva
During the training, they discussed the problems of proof in criminal cases related to human trafficking, judicial practice of Republic of Kazakhstan , the experience of Republic of Turkey in the using of legal instruments in combatting human trafficking , and also international experience in the providing the compensations to victims of human trafficking and other issues.
