The actions directed to the prevention of violence against women were conducted in Shymkent. The organizer - the senior inspector on protection of women of Al-Farabi regional department of Shymkent Police, the Police Major Gulchekhra Mominova ascertains: the crime against women are becoming more frequent. If for two months of last year our Police department registered 313 crimes against women, for two month of this year 539 crimes have already registered – said the Inspector. A large share among these crimes is also the facts of domestic violence.  Despite the fact that in 2009 in Kazakhstan the Law on “Prevention of Domestic Violence” was issued, many women remain vulnerable and unprotected.

Actions were conducted in educational institutions (schools and colleges) and in the park “Fantasy World”. Representatives of law enforcement authorities, health and education institutions, local affiliates of NDP “NUR OTAN” and NGOs participated in this action. Organizers of the action distributed booklets to young people with an explanation of Law and a telephone hotline by which women can apply for the help. Bytheway, therewillanswerwomen.

-It is very important,-  said Gulchekhra Mominova. – When a woman deals the number of police and hears a man’s voice, she can get confused-strange man on the other end of the line; she can’t weep in his waistcoat. Therefore women are involved in such “Hotlines”
