ToT “Advancement of gender equality with using CEDAW and United Nations Security Council resolution on the issues of Women, Peace and Security”

“Advancement of gender equality with using CEDAW and United Nations Security Council resolution on the issues of Women, Peace and Security” was conducted on September 5-7, 2012 in Tbilisi, Georgia. 

The representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan (program Coordinator, Psychologist - Vera Zakutnyaya), Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Asia participated in this training.

In the framework of training the problems of women in armed conflicts and the way of their protection were discussed, aimed at eliminating of contradictions according to CEDAW and United Nations Security Council resolution 1325.

In the framework of training the following session management on CEDAW and the issues of Women, Peace and Security were discussed:

  • Protection mechanisms with the help of CEDAW,
  • Establishment of a common platform regarding to the usage of CEDAW in the training,
  • International, regional and national mechanisms and standards in usage,
  • The methodology of adult education,
  • Main principles of United Nations Security Council resolution on the issues of Women, Peace and Security,
  • Communication between CEDAW and of United Nations Security Council resolution in the part of their usage.

Participation in TOT provided the opportunity to exchange of experiences and to discuss the ways of advancement of women through CEDAW and United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 and also through the national action plans.
