Chimkent policemen learn to work with victims of domestic violence

Policemen of Shymkent learn to work with victims of domestic violence. Public leaders of the center «Sana Sezim» undertook training for the policemen.

Every day the employees of department of internal affairs consider the statements from the women who have undergone of violence. Skilled trainers gave the examples from the film and described how to help with hard situations. Twenty five people, thanks to training, will learn to talk correctly with injured women. Work will last further. Those who were trained will teach their colleagues. 

«Knowledge which they will receive on our training will be useful to them in practice — the program coordinator of the  «Sana Sezim» Vera Zakutnyaya tells. — «It is difficult to them to pick up proper words when the injured woman addresses for the help. We should make so that victims of domestic violence weren't afraid of going to law enforcement agencies».

Annually more than 15 thousand Kazakhstan women are exposed to domestic violence. This year 240 victims have already addressed to the department of internal affairs of the South Kazakhstan. Now the police and NGO will work together. And that and others are frightened by statistics figures. «The statistics about everyone grows year. More and more women are exposed to domestic violence. If in 2010 to us 3200 women, in 2011 more than six thousand addressed. Many representatives of the weaker sex are not afraid to speak about the problems. But after all is both others and we don't know how many them» — tells Alma Sergaziyeva the senior inspector of DIA Management of public safety of South Kazakhstan.
