On 25 November 2011the Conference “Improvement of mechanisms of preventing domestic violence in Kazakhstan” was held. The facilitators of the conference were OSCE Center in Astana, the National Commission on Women and Family Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, UNDP Kazakhstan and UN Women with the support of the UK Embassy in Kazakhstan.

Legal practice in Kazakhstan in the field of prevention and preventative maintenance of domestic violence was discussed on the conference, as well as the system of protection of victims of violence in the regions of Kazakhstan. The recommendations were made on further improvement of legislation in that field. Deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representative of state and non-governmental organizations took part and made reports on the conference.
