Discussion of the issues of migration for the meeting of OSCE on Human Dimension

On 7 October OSCE meeting on Human Dimension (HDIM) was finished which was held from 26 September through 7 October 2011.

This meeting is spent annually starting from 1998 during 2 weeks in Warsaw (except 1999 and 2010 due to Istanbul and Astana summits). On HDIM government officials of OSCE member countries and their partners, civil society, OSCE institutes, missions and other structures and international organizations. On 3 October 2011 the topic of worker migrants and social integration of legal migrants was the subject of discussion on the plenary session of HDIM. Issues discussed covered the following topics:

1. How do the governments provide the working migrants the equal rights with the citizens of host countries in terms of hiring for the job and social supply?
2. What measures the countries undertake in give the opportunity to participate in social life of the host country?
3. Do the host countries take sufficient measures to supply the migrants with the information on their native languages?
4. Do the member countries develop special programs for law enforcement officials and other state organizations representatives related to the migrants, their rights and roles in the host country?
5. What measures are taken by the member countries for re-integration of returning migrants?
6. In which way do the member countries collaborate with the private sector, trade unions, other organizations in order to resolve the problem of migration.

With the support of several international NGOs of Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan additional activities (side events) have been held prior to the beginning of the plenary session where interested parties have been introduced to the problems and perspectives of labor migration from Central Asia to Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.
