Training for government officials “Labor migration without risks” was held in Shymkent

On 25 – 26 July 2011 there was a training for government officials “Labor government without risks” held in Shymkent. Trainees were representatives of migration police and state organizations on migration and human traffic counteraction.

“According to the official data, each year 200 thousand people arrive to Kazakhstan from Central Asia countries. According to non-official, from 500 thousand up to 1 million people”, it was said in press release from the organizers.

Growing rate of unemployment, poverty makes people to search for living and make migrant workers to work on illegal conditions, as experts believe. This situation causes awareness all over the world. During the training police and government officials received the necessary information and skills on issues of social protection of migrants and management of migration processes. They also discussed the necessity of changes of some laws in counteraction of human traffic.

Organizers were the International Organization for Migration, UNIFEM, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the RK, Ministry of Interior of the RK, NGO Legal Center of Women’s Initiatives “Sana Sezim”.
