The purpose of the grant is to support Legal Center for Women's Initiatives «Sana Sezim» to work on the problems of domestic violence, which it has been working on since it was established, but with no substantial funding. The group will provide support for victims of domestic violence in the city of Shymkent. It will also provide legal aid, psychological assistance, and a telephone helpline to victims of violence. Funding will devoted by «Sana Sezim» to engage in testing the new law in practice, and building up the data. The group will also carry out national-level advocacy work in order to advocate for shelters and financing of services should take place in cooperation with Astana and Almaty-based women’s rights groups in the future.
