From October 8-9, 2009 the seminar "Improvement of police inspectors working with the local population" was held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan for 25 police inspectors of the Department of the Interior of the South Kazakhstan Region.
   The seminar discussed the following topics: the concept of human rights, ethical and legal standards of conduct of police, international standards, human trafficking, volunteerism, leadership, and conflict management. All participants had individual plans for their precinct to work with the local population.
   This seminar was organized by the International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the OSCE Center in Astana. The seminar was hosted by NGO "Sana Sezim".
