Call for women’s equality

March 8 is recognized as the UN International Day of the struggle for women's rights. In the South Kazakhstan Department of Justice of finance and financial law KazGYuA, a press conference was held with leaders of women's NGOs where and appeal to the people of Kazakhstan was discussed.
Those who defend women’s rights pursue a policy of equal opportunities for women and men in all activities; particularly, in employment and appointments to senior positions. Women's NGOs consider it urgent and necessary to adopt a law on preventing and fighting domestic violence, which for several years now has been under consideration by Parliament.
There is a separate call for journalists. As said in the press conference by the president of the Legal Center for Women’s Initiatives “Sana Sezim”, H. Abysheva, representatives of mass media could contribute to a positive image of women, free from gender stereotypes. Do not leave the subject alone during elections of local representatives and legislative authorities. Women urge all citizens to vote in favor of the elections to the maslikhats in 2003 in Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan in 2004. As the leader of the regional branch of the Association of Business Women, B. Kazhkenova said that women are more responsible and diligent than men; therefore, deserve a fair assessment of their capabilities.
